Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.

Keep calm and carry on training

This week has been a bit disappointing…I’ve managed a decent amount of training, but every session has been a struggle and I’ve felt smashed after each one.

First up was a turbo session on Monday which is retrospect wasn’t too bad and my gentlemen’s area has recovered from the damage generated on Sunday morning. Turbo’ing is always boring. But once you accept the boredom, pedal and keep the numbers in the right place, then you come to enjoy it.

Tuesday featured an early start for a client meeting around the M25, a road which as many of you will know, resembles a car park most of the time! Then I hooked up with a buddy for a run which ended up at twelve miles and left me feeling utterly, utterly smashed. Not sure why, but I was sweating like there was no tomorrow and didn’t have anything in my legs…mystery!

Wednesday as ride and swim day. Felt fine on the ride to work, but then it’s only 15mins! The evening session was a 1 hour ride to the lake and a 1 hour swim. The ride was fine, verging on enjoyable and I felt good. The swim was hard.

Thursday morning, another early start (for various boring reasons), 10 mile run. Slow, very slow. Feeling demolished pretty much from the start. Made to look like a fool by my training buddy!

However, the moral of the story! The training has been done, I got through the sessions and I’ve been around the block enough times to know that this feeling will pass and all will improve – Keep Calm and Carry on Training!!
