After taking all of December off due to a knee injury, this week has marked the start of my return to full training and also the start of the road towards Ironman Zurich 2014.
My knee injury is basically an overuse problem which I have ignored for too long and now it has become a reasonably big problem. I was out on a ride at the start of December and the right hand side of my right knee felt a bit tight. When I got home it got worse to the point of not being able to bend it or put much pressure on. Doctors and physio appointments were booked and mild pain started to set in!! But a few appointments later and it’s feeling better and I’ve been given the go ahead to start running again. I’ve got an MRI booked for later in the month, hopefully that will put my mind at ease and let me hit the training!
So this week I’ve ridden my bike twice, nothing long, hard or fast. The problem knee hasn’t exploded so all is good…off-road running tomorrow should be interesting!!
