Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.

Night ride at night in the night

It has been a few months since I have put together a consistent run of off-road rides, but this week has seen the arrival of Spring, albeit a super-cold Spring and the return of the mountain bike.

Firstly I rode my mountain bike to work, got very muddy and had to take the long way home to avoid the really muddy bit which resulted in 14 miles in the morning and 22 miles in the evening.  All was good…

Secondly I enjoyed a ride out with Richard and Giles in the snow. The conditions were pretty enjoyable for the first half of the ride and then got a big slushy towards the end. However it was nice to get out on a social ride and have some fun. Not sure of the distance or time as GPS was dead.

This was followed by a ride this evening with Jimbo. Giles was supposed to come but bailed at the last minute so the two musketeers headed out into the cold night with our hearts set on getting a few miles under our wheels.  There was plenty of mud out there but we managed to miss most of it.  After a while we arrived home and my GPS said 6 miles, which I think for 1hr 20mins riding seems a bit short.

I’ve also squeezed two commute rides in this week so far but still no running due to ongoing knee pain.
