Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.

Ride replaced with a run

The plan for this morning was a ride on my new bike around the roads and lanes for Bedfordshire.  With the alarm set for a 06:30 start I peered out of the window to be met with lashing rain and gusting winds.  After a brief exchange of text messages the decision was made to get back in to my warm bed and go running at night instead.

And so, I found myself standing in the cold waiting for my training partner for the night, fiddling with my head torch and wondering why it didn’t seem very bright. Turns out I only had it on the ‘less than blinding’ setting, head torch adjusted we were off, across Coopers Hill, quick dip into the corner of Ampthill Park, across the muddy field, round the back of Millbrook golf course, across another muddy field, then another muddy field, around the edge of Centre Parcs (muddy once more), emerge on to the road, past the police station, pass the Indian restaurant (closed), up the hill, past the pub and back to our meeting point.  Covered in mud and cold but satisfied. 8 1/2 miles done.
